AP ENGLISH LIT and COMP ENGLISH 12 AND ADVISORY

I was born and raised in Buffalo New York, home of the Buffalo Bills Football Team, and then I moved later to sunny Southern California; that is, Los Angeles with my family. I completed high school in Los Angeles, graduating from Notre Dame Academy Girls' High School. After high school, I attended UCLA in sunny Southern California where I majored in French, with a minor in Italian and International Business. I obtained my BA in French and Liberal Arts. I later became an exchange student and a world traveler when I began working for SWISSAIR (the airline of Switzerland) and United Airlines for about 10 years.

I went back to school, received my graduate degrees in Business Administration (MBA) and Education (M.A.Ed.). I also obtained my teaching credential in English Language Arts, which has allowed me to teach grades K-12. As a high school student, college and exchange student, I was able to see that very few students of "color" were doing what I had had the opportunity to do so I decided to become a teacher. As a teacher, I wanted to motivate students to think outside the box and not limit themselves because of the "color" of their skin. I wanted to encourage students to be open minded and believe they could dream and be whoever and whatever they wanted to be, but in order to do this, they had to obtain the knowledge they needed to succeed in a global market place such as ours. My favorite quote comes from Sir Francis Bacon who stated, "Knowledge is power." The world cannot be experienced as it should, without knowledge.
